I was worried and I didn’t know what I was supposed to do but I’ve learned a lot because today I speak Italian, French, English and even German! Mamma mia! What a difficult language! Hi, I’m Anna. I’ve been working for CCL since 2010 as a children’s animator. I entertain children ages 3 to 12. We are always here at the Kids Club which is our place of work. Here you can find an assortment of activities being carried out throughout the day. We go to the pool, we go to the sports field and we have loads of theme parties such as the ones that can be found in “Kids Club” which you can get here at the Kids Club. Every day we have activities with the kids but it’s not only kids you find in the Kids Club because we’re here too. Us, the animators. Yeah, because we’re a family. There are 10 animators, not on every ship but anyway there are always lots of us, and with everyone, it’s really a family. Because we live together, play together, and joke around together. Sometimes you cry because it happens that you are homesick but anyway they all become friends, big brothers, sisters. We don’t always get along though that happens in families too. Then, there’s life on board. Yeah, there are loads of people that you can meet. And why not? You can learn languages perhaps? A bit of English, French, Spanish, then with you Portuguese friends you can learn some new words too. Lots and lots of shopping! But not only this. Because CCL is a family, as I mentioned, but I’ll say it again. It’s really a family and in my family, there’s also a special friend. Yes! Because with us, we also have Kids! He’s half shark, half dolphin… here he is! He’s friends with all the children and the children’s animator. Shall we say bye, Kids? Bye, see you travelling the world with CCL, bye!

Hi I’m Sofia. On board I am a TV assistant. As TV assistant, I assist the TV director in programming and in management of the TV signals that are received on board from land. Like at home, every passenger in the cabin has a television. It’s us here at the TV centre on the ship that send the TV signal to every cabin with a precise scheduling that has been planned for our guests that speak different languages. Simultaneous to this role, we film various activities on board. The main activity to be filmed is that which occurs every evening in the theater. This is, the show which we broadcast live with a live feed onto lateral screens that we have in the theater. Our team is made up of 12 people, 12 technicians that are in charge of the theater, the televisions, the lounges. There are three of us in the TV department. The positive aspect of my work that I love is being able to work with the professionals and being able to work with equipment that is difficult to encounter at home and we get to handle. Then in addition to this, we have to consider our personal lives. We are on board a ship, we travel to ports that we might not see on our own. So the positive side is that we can discover specific parts of the world where we on our own might see once a year and we get to know thousands of people and many nationalities which opens your mind and opens your heart and helps us to feel good. Greetings, my name is Simone Sommerfeld and I am a German Hostess on board CCL Cruises. My career started with training carried out in Genoa at CCL Cruises. After a safety training course I received my first on board placement. Each morning I accompany the groups on their excursions or I assign the tour guides to the groups and have a bit of free time for myself. Every day for one hour I am available to guests that need information that have questions or problems and I offer my help and assistance. I also organize embarkation and disembarkation. I let guests know what life is like on board CCL ships and give instructions for disembarkation. Additionally, every day I have to check the program for the following day. I translate it, verify the schedule and times so that everything is correct and the correct information is given to the guests. In the evenings, we organize cocktail hours and gala nights which I attend dressed in lovely gowns. I also participate in the shows that follow. I have many other responsibilities but I principally provide information and assistance. Life on board is always very nice. We have an excellent crew among which the relationships are always strong. We have fun and this is always helpful. We have contracts that last between 5 and 8 months therefore we really get to know each other and create a great atmosphere. To conclude I can only suggest to those with the right qualities to come and try out this job.
